Celebrating International Women’s Day 2024

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #InspireInclusion

Mary Aikenhead was a woman of vision, innovation, courage and resilience. Her life continues to inspire inclusion.

The first five sisters came to Australia to work with and care for convicts at the Female Factory in Parramatta. Prison Ministry continues today through health services and it inspires inclusion.

Caring for HIV/AIDS patients, advocating for a safe injecting room, looking after unaccompanied Rwandan refugee children are just some of the ways over the years that sisters have worked to inspire inclusion.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Heritage Centre is proud to #InspireInclusion. Our temporary exhibition displays historic images of sisters working in other cultures, sisters today and some of the staff and organisations who continue the work of inspiring inclusion.

The visual display highlights sisters of the past, present and some of the works inspired by these ‘extensively useful’ women.

There’s lots more to see and do at the Heritage Centre and we invite you to come and visit. Everyone is welcome!
